After reading the story, I don't think those two are going to have their parents give them anymore money. LOL!

Man, that's just mean. It's one thing to fight with your parents about this. But you know they were worried sick. Two weeks without hearing from your kids......you know they feared the worst. Fortunately, these two brats were found alive and well.

As the article states, they are adults and can do whatever they want. It would have been nice if they told their parents what they were doing but they were certainly under no obligation. Sounds like their parents are jerks anyway.

True, but I get the impression from the article that the students in question are still relying on Mommy and Daddy for most of their money.

I know if these were my kids, they'd get no more $$$ from me. They'd have to pay their own way through law school.

Well, I'm not a subscriber, so my searches are limited to topics-only.

I searched on "missing" and "students" and came up empty.

If this is a repost, then the original is under a non-descriptive title.

Alfaro-Lopez and Gouveia?

They are adults by age only. Needlessly worrying their parents like that is so irresponsible and immature. If they don't want to be bothered by their parents they should assume their own financial responsibilities, including the cost of their higher learning.

Why is this a national news item?

My guess: Rich white kids

heh....possibly, but doubtful. MSU doesn't have the brightest nor most wealthy of students.

where did anybody say anything about them getting in trouble?

people like this are only hurting themselves. if they ever get abducted, god forbid, they're less likely to get found before they get chopped up into little bite-sized bits because people will think they're on another one of their little vacations. not to mention it makes them look pretty darn immature. you can say they are adults or whatever, but something like this just gives them even less credibility.

How could two people on a trip in 2003 not have a mobile phone is beyond me.

little punks should pay back all the money wasted on tv airtime and law enforcement looking for them

I don't have a mobile phone, not even when I go on vacation.
Correction: their PARENTS should pay back all the money wasted.

They had one, but they turned it off so that their parents couldn't find them. Who knows, maybe the mother is wierd, and would track down and kill the boyfriend if she found out?:p

why should their parents pay?

Mainly because the kids did nothing wrong. The parents had even told them not to do what they did, so the parents had to have a pretty good idea of what the kids were doing, and they turned it into a huge thing, bringing the police into it and everything.
