i have a gig of ram in my system but i only hae 590 free according to pc probe and task manager. is it normal for that much memory to be used, i just upgraded from an integrated graphics card and i had to drop to integrated sound to make room for new card. is there something wrong here or is this right??

You should shut down most of the crap in your system tray. That will help alot. But using onboard audio/video does use alot of extra RAM, compared to an audio and a video card.

no offense to dawn here but can anyone vouch for this program she linked to? or better yet provide a link to a trusted site that vouches for it? im just a bit leery of dling a program for nuking my processes unless i know its legit.

i had been using onboard video and a sound card, but had to switch to integrated sound for my new video card and my available ram stayed about the same. theres no way the integrated video and integrated sound took up the same amout of ram

A quick search of UseNet shows that Neuber's Security Task Manager is a legitimate program.

I see no reason to be concerned with its safety, assuming you get it from the developer's site.

i posted that real quick then looked it up and found it on several sites. im gonna dl it soon and see if it helps.
