missing pictures

I recently got a new memory card (OCZ SD 80x with USB) for my camera. This weekend I used it for the first time, and noticed many of the pictures are not there. At least 6 pictures apparently never got saved to the card, possibly more (and there are only 7 pictures on the card). I know how to use my camera well; I have never took pictures wrong, at least this many times. Could this new memory card be defective and not saving everything? or corrupting some files? or might my camera not be compatible? is there a good way to test the card?

Offload everything from the card into you computer. Then have the camera reformat the card and test with several pictures. Check you mode dial for auto or P.

Most digicams have a mode dial. The normal symbol for full AUTO is a green rectangle. For user programmable, a "P." For macro, a tulip, for landscape a pair of mountains, and for portrais, a head.

Most digicams come with a manual that should be read so that all the controls and menu options are understood. Somethings work in some mode settings - some don't. What camera and model are we talking about?

It shouold be easy to isolate the fault in this case. Use the old SD chip, and see if it records properly. Then use the new one and perform the same tests. That will tell you if it is the camera or the SD module, or an incompatibility between them.
