If you're reading this message, you're probably missing your nvccflt.sys and your system won't boot. And you've probably discovered that the file isn't exactly easy to locate.
Just show me the file!!! Skip to step 2.
Let me guess, you decided to upgrade your drivers, but then you discovered the NAM wasn't working any longer. This bothered you, so you did several install/uninstalls of your drivers to fix the problem. But you discoverd that bits of previous installs were being left behind and you couldn't get a clean install, and you read somewhere that Driver Cleaner might help. Neat little program that driver cleaner -- sucks out the rollback drivers but leaves just enough behind where the system still looks for the file. And brother there is no way to boot your system without that file. Relax, there is a way to fix this w/o reinstalling the whole OS. And the good news is that it takes just a few minutes to fix.
For newbies, here's a set of basic steps to get you out of the jam:
1) Prepare a drivers disk for your NVidia storage. There is a makedisk utility included in the Chipset Drivers paks for ASUS that allows you to make a floppy disk (at least there is for the A8N-Sli).
2) Download the nvcchflt.sys from:
http://www.driverpacks.net/Projects/DriverPacks/ The driver pak you want is for mass storage.
3) Add the file to your floppy along with your other drivers.
4) Set your BIOS to boot from CD, then boot to your OS Install disk.
5) Press F6 during the windows startup process and follow the prompts. When the time comes, pop in the floppy and select both drivers on your disk and then continue.
6) When Windows starts up, and gives you the choice to install or recover, choose 'r' for recovery. This will get you to a dos-like prompt.
7) Copy the nvcchflt.sys to your c:\windows\system32/drivers folder.
8) Pop all your disks and reboot.
