Missing krnl386 file when booting win 98

I am getting the message Missing krnl386 file when win 98 starts after a fresh install on a brand new Asus A7 Pro Board. I think it is a bus mastering problem. Has anyone had any experience with it before I try a Bios upgrade

Sounds to me more like bad sectors on a HDD. If it is a clean install, you have nothing to lose. Try reformatting the drive, then do a full scandisk on the drive before you run stup.
