One of my IDE controllers is missing from my device maneger. I have checked my BIOS and it does not let me make any adjustments.can anyone tell me what else I should do to fix this problem.

Hey there,

So it is missing....hmm....does this affect the performance of your Drives on this connection ??
Such as, does your system ever freeze up or lose data ??
If it does could be a MOBO prob with the IDE connector.

Some mobos and/or chipsets require an IRQ sharing patch before the IDE controllers will be detected properly. Usually once you have installed the patch, the missing channel will be detected and installed on the next bootup. Most often this only applies to Win 95/98. Later Win already has the patches. Check the mobo or chipset mfr's web sites. Once I've installed the IRQ patch, I also install the chipset's latest IDE driver if there is one.
