I was shocked to see the Greyscale feature removed from Samsung's Galaxy S and Note series with Marshmallow. Battery life is the most important thing for me because I am often in the great outdoors, far away from a power source.

I was able to find the setting called Simulate Color Space in Developer Options and changed it to Monochromacy; which is essentially greyscale.

I just wanted to share this because there are a lot of upset Galaxy owners on the internet who want their Greyscale back. I was thinking all hope was lost for a moment. Power Saving Mode + Greyscale + 7500 mah battery = outstanding longevity.

Does the "monochromacy" setting actually save battery life as a result of not having the gpu drive all those colors? Or does the greyscale emulation cancel it out having to calculate how to render it in B&W?

You can access the greyscale option under settings>accessibility>vision

Not sure if it actually saves a lot of battery though.

It doesn't. If you search you can find websites that have tested it.
