Ok, well a friend of mine has a 4790k getting to hot. Was 88 degrees celsius consistently. He delids and notices caps is missing from the inside (Maybe he poked it off...Personally, looks as if one was never put there...) another is slightly bent. He gave up in frustration and gave it to me. Personally, looking at it, doesn't look to bad IMO. I am thinking I could fix it, I just wanted to ask everyone's opinion first. I was about to test it, but I don't want to put thermal paste on, unless everyone suggests to try and solder a cap back on and to adjust/fix the other. I have soldered caps before, not this small though... It will be a tedious tough job, but I think I can do it
. There is no other damage from what I could see. No scratches on the pcb, no other caps are damaged whatsoever, doesn't look like it's been dropped or bumped or anything. So what do you guys think??? Personally for free, testing and seeing and all that noise won't be a problem for me, especially if it still works
.
