Hello, I just installed win98SE on an older computer on a 540MB hard drive. The installation was completed successfully and when the system reboots to go into windows for the first time, i get an error that the command.com is missing and asks me to give a location. I installed windows on the default folder c:\windows. does anybody know what could be happenning? I do have to admit that the drive is like 10 years old... is that the problem, a bad drive? thanks in advance. 🙂

Look in the root of C for the file: command.com with a size of 93,980 Bytes and a date of 04/23/1999. Also look in the Windows dir for the same file w/ the same properties. If it is not in both places, just copy it from where it is to where it isn't. See if that works.
