Missing Boot Partition

Anyone know how to recover a missing boot partition?

I installed Acronis Disk Director wanting to dual boot (two hard drives) Vista and Xp. Unfortunately, Acronis does not recognize Vista(installed Disk Director on Vista hard drive). So. while Acronis found two hard drives, Xp is the only OS i could boot from.
I click on Boot, the computer rebooted and gave me a "missing boot partition" message.
I contacted Acronis and was told to downloaded a program from their site. I did and followed the instructions provided. I received a "No Commands for booting Operating System" message. I contacted Acronis. Still waiting for their response.

I do not have an ASR disk.

Could somebody help me with this?

Edit: I can now access the Xp disk but not the Vista disk. I get a "Boot Failure" message.
Thanks.
