Missing blank slot covers

I'm missing a couple blank slot covers in the back of my case from expansion cards I don't need anymore.

Is it bad to just leave them open??

Actually, it might help in the sense of helping with air ventilation. I never leave an open slot because of looks and possible access for dust. You can buy replacement covers at Fry's Electronics or even just pick up what you need at a used computer parts store.

Only if it screws up your airflow or you spill water into them ime. I leave mine off my computer because I swap out expansion cards a lot and haven't had any problems; CPU GPU hard drives all run within 1-2C with them on or off. If you only have one exhaust fan say a BTX case that really depends on ordered airflow and not your typical enthusiast rig that has a fan strapped to everything that gets remotely warm you might want to leave them on.

If you want to cover them up, just use a strip of black electrical tape on either side of the slot. It's cheaper than buying replacement slot blanks.
