it's unfortunate how little foresight movie and tv networks had in the past with regards to future demand for their shows / movies, and how little they cared about preseveration.
So many missing Dr. Who episodes and tons of other shows.
Missing movies due to inadequite redundancy on storage of negatives.
Also, just tons of missing football, baseball, basketball games, boxing matches, golf tourneys, etc...

lol good point, what's the point in recording it if it's redone live.Also keep in mind the entire industry came out of the live theatre industry.
As far as they were concerned they just did it in front of a camera instead of an audience.
Keep in mind that it was more difficult to archive stuff back in those days. 35mm film and Quad tape takes up a lot of space. Film and tape stock tend to degrade over time as well. Sometimes it was just lost because the studio needed more room for newer stuff and got rid of the older ones that seemed worthless.
