So, i was waiting for a package ALL day before work. I left the house for twenty minutes to run an errand, and of course, the package is delivered, but can't be signed for because no one was around.

So, now I have to wait until Monday for delivery. I know SOME mail delivery services allow customers to pick up their packages, but I couldn't find any information about UPS.

Anyone have any experience with this? I would love to pick up the package tomorrow if possible.

Thread from 2007.

call them and have it held for pickup. generally you cannot pickup the same day, although if you're experienced with UPS you know exactly what time the driver returns to the depot. :)

If we say yes, are you going to drive to the local hub and demand your package?

"OPEN UP, YOU HAVE MY PACKAGE! SOMEONE FROM ATOT SAID I COULD PICK IT UP ON SATURDAY!"

UPS is a real pain. They won't let you pick up on the same day (like FedEx) and they usually can't get the package off the freaking truck for the next day, so you end up waiting two days after the first delivery to get your stuff.

I've wandered my neighborhood to track down a driver and got my package off his truck. The guy was a little surprised, but he also pointed out that it would save him from having to come to me again the next day.

The local UPS hub in Raleigh lets me pickup packages as long as they have made at least one attempted delivery. Just call the 800 number and tell the operator to have it held at the local hub for you. Then go over there and pick it up.

If you call early enough after missing, they'll put your name on a list and you can pick it up that day.

But if it's too late, you're out of luck and you'll have to wait until the next day to pick it up.

Not sure about Saturday pickup but yeah... UPS is the biggest pain.

You can call UPS and have them hold it at your local hub and then go pick it up yourself. Just be aware that your local hub may be really far away from where you are. Mine was like 20 mins by toll road from my house when the local fedex distribution center is less than 5 mins away. As others have said, I don't think you can pick it up on the same day as a missed delivery but I do remember picking up on a Saturday after a missed delivery attempt on friday.

Consider yourself lucky. My guy left my package at the front door and it was stolen. :|:(

Go to the tracking page and track using the number on the delivery attempt slip. On those tracking result pages, there's a link to make alternate delivery arrangements. You enter a phone number and they'll call you with the time you can pick it up (usually after 8).

Some times, they can alert you to the driver's route.

Then you can "intercept" the driver and get the package at one of their store pickups.

If you package has not been delivered they will not let you pick it up. Like if it comes from LA to Chicago hub and you do not want to wait for the driver to come and want to go get it... you can't you have to wait for it to go through the system.

I do not know about the not being home to sign for it... USPS lets do pick it up.

UPS lets me pick it up after a missed delivery the same evening, once the driver gets back to the hub.

I just called the number, told the woman I wanted to pick it up, she told me a time, was in an out in 2 minutes.

Couldn't be easier.

I picked up my Wii last Christmas weekend in L.A.'s downtown hub.. nope not doing that again.

It should be pretty straightforward on other days.
