Missed the payment deadline for ticket

Ya, I shouldn't have waited till the last day...
The deadline was 12/5
Am I going to be fined an extra $300?
I want to just mail out the check on monday. The website doesn't let me pay the citation anymore.
I'm so fucking broke 🙁
Is there any way I can do community service instead?

Is that what the fine says on your ticket? I think on mine it was only like a $50 fine

On the bail that they mailed out to me, it says:
Payment must be received before due date or, pursuant to penal code section 1214.1, citation is subject to $300 civil assessment.
🙁

*Confused*

Maybe you should get money from a credit card and pay it off? Then pay off the credit card a few days later? IDK, it would seem more smart to me.

I don't have a job right now.. unless the community service equates to about $3/hr, I would rather do that than to use up the very little credit limit I have left.

Just move to another state and you will be fine 🙂 Just don't ever come back to this state or you will be arrest if you get pulled over.

While I don't pretend to know much about warrants, I DO know that outstanding warrants show up on your file, so if astro is pulled over, he/she will have a notation that there's an outstanding warrant that needs to be taken care of. I would assume that it doesn't matter if the person is in another state; a nonpayer in State X is a nonpayer in State Y, even if the obligation was for State X.

I occasionally read the local newspaper, and there's a number of stories where someone got pulled over for a traffic/motor vehicle violation, and when running a check found out that the driver had an "outstanding warrant" in another county (or perhaps another state), so I have reason to doubt looker's "advice".

And in retrospect, that WAS not a smart move to try and wait until the last minute. Pay X amount asap and get it taken care of, or miss the deadline and pay X + 300.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that community service as a matter of punishment isn't paid labor/work (which is what you would call a "job").

Lack of communication is not your friend here. Call and talk to someone, explain your circumstances and see if they can give you an extension of time to pay. You may need to appear in court to request this.

what would happen if you were truly broke and couldn't pay the ticket? i mean in general? do they put it on a payment plan?

traffic tickets can be paid in a payment plan... IF you negotiate the payment plan before it the deadline expires...
now you will go to jail.

my advice: keeps some anal lube in the glove box.

Drop it and a check in the mail asap. Watch as the check gets cashed and you never have to worry about it again.

it depends. It is up to his local police/sheriffs department to list him wanted. If it is a minor simple assault/possession/traffic chances are they won't. On top of that they would have to be willing to extradite him back which is a pain in the ass if he wants to fight it. Considering it is failing to pay a ticket I bet he would be alright.
