Rossman being able to find a good deal does not mean he is all knowing about credit card policy.

A creditor CAN report a single day late to the credit bureau under the "1-30 days" indicator.

Most creditors DO NOT however report you late until 60 days or so.

However, a late payment can still cause fees, rate increases, and damage to the internal scoring that creditor uses.

Even if they refund the fee and do not report you late to the credit bureaus, their internal systems will still remember.

I did the same thing by one day. I called them (Chase) and they said nothing goes to collections or is on your credit report until you are 60 days late.

They still charge you a $50 late fee though.
