MISS My SBLive is anything as good

I had a SBlive that I am sorry I got rid of, I purchased a Herc Game theater to replace it with a while back. I am in the markrt now for a new Sound card and was wondering if there are any other Sound cards that have the feature of changing the enviromental sound like SBlive had, EX. it can make it sound like it is in a CAVE or BATHROOM or LARGE AUDITORIUM. You all with SBlive know what I am talking about. If this is the only way to go then I will have to get an Audigy, I know that they have that new device out that I think will work with any sound card but dont really want to spend that much.

I see alot of people wanting a TB Santa Cruz and thought that maybe it had these features But I didnt know, I had always used SB LIVE until now and I MISS that feature about the sound card.

Yea I will most likely do the OEM flavor if I buy an Audigy, I was just wondering if SB live was the only card with the features I spoke of. 🙂

The TB Santa Cruz has the feature you want. Large room, small room, bathroom, auditorium etc. There's a bunch of them. Buy one and try it. If you don't like it, take it back.

I find it strange the game theatre does not have these features conisder it is the same chip has the one in the turtle beach card.

I second the TB Santa Cruz. Get it at dell.com after piling on rebates and you can get a refurbished card for REALLY cheap. 20-30 off retail price. I have a oem and it works fine.

Yup, another vote for the TB Santa Cruz.
I didint realise it could do those effects, but what do you know, in the effets tab theres 19 options just like the live and you can set it for 2 different effect channels afaikt.
Does anyone know why there are two times seperate options for the same effects?
Also has the "Sensaura" accoustic ear mullarky, achoustic echo cancellation, 3D stereo enhancement, multiple wave out devices, 64 Hardware/1024 Software Voices, up to 6 speaker output (5.1), Dynamic/DLS Voice allocation, Versa Jack software configurable outputs + didgital I/O and other mullarky i dont understand 😀
Anyways, looks like it can do what you require.

About a year ago, I has to take out my SBLive because of a conflict. Got the Phillips Accoustic Edge - really nice sound!

both the GTXP and Santa cruz have the ability to do environmental effects in games, so it sounds to me like you're trying to apply these to windows audio or something because AFAIK the games select the environmental effect on their own.. my Vortex 2 could apply different room settings to mp3 audio through a plugin that utilized A3D.

since EAX 1 and 2 are both in Directsound, you could do the same..

I got the Herc when it first came out and after a while, got rid of it and bought a Santa Cruz. Before you immediately go out and buy one, just be fore warned that the Santa Cruz is essentially the same card as the Herc GTXP, only minus the breakout box and with far less buggy drivers. Be sure you know what you want before buying.

Cant remember the last time I wanted me audio to sound like a

<< CAVE or BATHROOM >>

. 😉

I happen to love my Game Theater. You selling yours?

Yes I knew it use enviro for sound based on the game, But I have no control over it that I can find. I miss Playing Unreal Tourney with the echo or depth turned up alittle, With SB your setting carry over into windows so it can be used on music players and such.

I too thought they wouldnt work in windows such as media player etc until i found the two effect options have a mute button at the bottom of each one which is muted by default. Unmute and it sounds great 🙂
Sussed out why theres two choices 🙂 You can select one such as Sewer pipe :/ then select auditorium and you end up with what is supposed to sound like a sewer pipe in an auditorium! hehe 😀 Now IIRC my Live couldnt do that! 😉
If you like these kind of effects you will love playing mixing these two together 😀 😀
Looking at the possible choices - small room + auditorium just doesnt sound right 😉 hmmm? 😀

reverb, small room, bathroom, auditorium, big hall, arena, hallway, sewer pipe, warble, chorus (heavy), vibrato, chorus, flange, spacial, slap back echo, medium delay, long delay, repeat delay, nervous.
Using these together makes a total of 323 combinations, yeah?.
Im having so much fun with this, its going to take me hours to get through that lot to see what all the combo's sound like.
This is just so funny 😀 Im like a kid with a new toy 🙂

In answer to your title, yes the TB SCruz can do everything the live can do and then some.
Theres loads more that ive yet to play with so i recommend you read the online help off the SCruz Control Panel in whole to learn of all the other features/presets/how to setup etc if you decide to get one.
I thought my SC was good before, now im really impressed.
Thanks for pointing me to take a closer look at my card.

rockhard =)

Thanks YA'LL.🙂

rockhard The SBlive I had you could also hook up the mike and it would Change your voice, you also could record it. Glad to hear the TB SC has these features. Like posted above: I can always take it back, May give it a Try.
