Mismatched RAM - 2x 1 type + 2x another.

Can I put 2x2GB sticks of RAM in with 2x512GB sticks for 5GB without any negatives? I realize the possible negatives aren't really worth the extra 1GB I'd get but I'm stuck paying for it so I'd rather use it than not. Should I just bite it and not use it, or is there really nothing to worry about with mismatched RAM? (It just seems like a bad idea to me)

Doing that would be the equivalent of running down the street with a 100 lb weight in one arm and a 20 lb weight in your other for your nb.

It is a really horrible idea.

Your likely going to have to raise your memory timings which will hurt performance. What are you doing that is using more than 4 GB?

Pretty much what I figured, thanks for the replies. Probably going to just ... eat the extra GB.
