"Blinded by the light,
revved up like a douche,
another runner in the night..."

There is no way that sounds like deuce.
Not CCR, but something else.

This. There is absolutely no way they're saying "revved" or "deuce."

And in Coldplay's Viva La Vida, I swear he sings, "I know St. Peter will call my name."

outta curiosity, I just lstened to it. I can hear "revved" quite clearly, but it's still "douche". Given that, it's gotta be "wrapped".

The alleged proper terms don't make sense to me. Must be a regional thing.

edit: that's not what Cold Play sang?

Supposedly they sing "I know Saint Peter won't call my name." The singer has talked about why the lyrics are like that - so I'm definitely hearing it wrong. I also find the correct lyric kind of depressing, so I change it in my mind. :)

Saw Springsteen on Paladium storytellers the other day, and he was talking about how when Manfred man covered his song, he was happy for their success, but annoyed that they changed the lyric to "douche."

So, yeah, even Springsteen hears it that way. He's prolly right.....

EDIT: ah, see now that it most definitely is "douche" in their version. I know that's how I always heard it.

This is the line I assumed this thread would be about.

I saw Fogerty in concert, and he actually said that line at the end of that song and pointed to the right with a smile on his face. IT was great.
