Misery is comfortable. It's why so many people prefer it

I just try to stay relaxed myself.

It's pretty comfortable.

I haven't truly been happy in awhile, relaxed works.

Happiness takes effort.

As a general rule I think changing your state of mind takes effort regardless of what the original state is. (Outside of major events like debilitating illness etc). Its comfortable in the state that you know and are familiar with. You see problems in how they fit in with your views. Recently I saw two people go through the same event in significantly different ways. Same parents, same upbringing, same issue. One took the things that needed to be done and did them as no big deal. It may have been busy but sometimes life is like that. Satisfaction was taken at how well the issue was handled and how quickly it was taken care of. The other posted a lot about how difficult life was on Facebook and kept looking for sympathy. Less direct action was taken as if Facebook posting would somehow make the issue go away faster

I think some people do really enjoy misery. Mostly because they like to let everyone else know about it. Posting on FB about something that happened, etc. Wanting sympathy, needing it to feel worthy. Its sickening really that people do this.
