miserable in college

I have been here in college for about a week, and I am miserable. Throughout all my childhood i was extremely close to my parents, and I have a hard time being without them. I am also second guessing my choice of major (business) and since this is a business only school, I kind of screwed myself over.

I have been talking to my mom, and have considered transferring home after the semester to attend a local community college for a while and figure out what i want to do. Is this an alright thing to do?

It seems like all my friends are having alot of fun here, however i am miserable. I have even been going to campus events and making friends, but to no avail.

Anyone have any help/suggestions?

whatever you do don't transfer home, stick it out. if you're into sports just join in the pickup games. if your interests lie otherwhere then i can almost promise you that there is some sort of club on campus. trust me man, i had some friends that went back home after the first semester, it never allows you time to expand yourself past what you've always known

well, it's only been a week. your life is far from over.

if you do plan on transferring, try to make sure your current courses' credits will transfer to your intended school.

college is a great time to realize that you can survive without your parents. it's all a part of growing up. don't worry, everyone gets home sick. i'd say, give it some more time. be open minded about all the social experiences and activities out there.

what he said. i also feel terrible during my first few weeks on campus. but now that i have graduated i feel like living outside by myself once in a while and enjoy the silence by myself.

I'd say you have homesickness. It'll pass as college life becomes your new routine. Stick it out, you'll be glad you did.

suck it up.

you can't stay home forever, and home sickness will eventually go away. if you go back home now, what are you going to do when you need to move out or move across the country for a job?

Stick it out for the semester and if it doesn't get better try the community college. It will certainly be less expensive.

whatever you do. DO NOT go back home!!!!
trust me, it WILL get better (as soon as you get laid 😛)

true true

just give it a little time man... the first month is always confusing but it always get better.

I just moved out about a month ago for college, and I wanted to move back home at first. Just stick it out, you have to do it sometime. I'd say if you don't like the school you're at after a year, transfer back home or somewhere else. I'm sure your credits would transfer as electives to most schools.

DO NOT GO HOME! STICK IT OUT! That would be the worst decision you have made in your entire life!!
i was just like you - homesick, and i called my Mom crying that i wanted to come home.
I AM SOOOOOO GLAD I DIDN'T!

How far are you from home.

About 90 minutes.

It is not just the home sickness, it is the fact that i am unsure of what i want to do. I dont want to sit in an office for my entire life, and that is what this school is leading me to.

I'm assuming you're in a dorm, why don't you give it more time ?
if there are parties, hit them up. Drink up a lil bit.
So far last week has been pretty good 🙂 Getting cute honey's ass getting grinded into you is one of the best feelings you'll have 😉 😀

What he said. There's nothing wrong with comm college - I spent a few years there in leiu of high school and it was an awesome way to trim several thousand dollars off my college expenses. I got to take more cool classes too, since the classes are easier and you can kind of dink around and find what you like. Finish up a semester where you're at and then head home for a while if you still want to. I don't know why there's supposed to be a magic age where suddenly you want to leave the house and drink...
