interesting...it means anyone misdialing for Clay will easily end up voting for Ruben.

kinda speaking about American Idol, i heard someplace today that even before the albums of clay and ruben that with presales clay's is at #2 on the charts and rubens is at #5...
anyone know if thats true?

i read about that somewhere about Kelly too...thing is true they will prolly make some dough..
at least a million but in terms of longevity...nada.

On Amazon, Clay's single is ranked No. 1. Ruben's single is ranked No. 4.

Clay was always more popular than Ruben, that is why some people were shocked when he lost. Simon admitted he never criticised Ruben because he wanted Ruben to win.

There are A LOT of stupid people out there. If you are ever a CSR or hear CSR's stories about callers... you'd know. These stupid people could very well have contributed to Clay's loss... but who's to say FOX really did use the phone system to decide the winner?

Randolph speculated the problem is that older phones don't have the letter Q on it, while newer phones have "P-Q-R-S" over the 7, which some people may have thought was the letter O. The "American Idol" numbers were (866) IDOLS01 or (866) IDOLS02.

That doesn't make sense. So some old fart mistakes Q (7) for an O (6) and misdials. The two numbers are identical but for the last digit (1 or 2) so the mistaken digit doesn't affect who gets the vote. Someone trying to dial (866) IDOLS01 and hitting a 7 instead of the 6 for the O position doesn't wind up dialing (866) IDOLS02, they dial (866) IDQLS01.

130,000 votes separated Ruben and Clay.

The other company took 169,000 calls for Clay. That puts Clay up by 39,000 votes.

The company also took 72,000 calls for Ruben. That puts Ruben up by 33,000 votes.

How does that cost Clay the American Idol?

the die hard Clay fans who are complaining about the outcome should be happy. Clay has a record deal, going on tour, and relasing music. And they should stop bitching.
