Well electricity generation uses much more fossil fuels, mainly coal.

When you grow up and actually have some years in you, you'll realize that you don't need to put forth a mask of maturity to be taken seriously. It's only the kids that do that, since they're secretly feeling inferior, and attempt to appear more mature to be taken more seriously.
To think they're not manipulating the market or taking advantage of it is absurd. '
Katrina hit, why the hell did gas prices in California or New York goes up?

It's a lot easier than presenting an actual argument. LOL

Awwwww I used to think Ben stein was smart. Puppets are not smart.
So gas prices went up by themselves and he is glad because the stations haven't run out of gas.
What a frixxxing tard.
I'd rather see them run out of gas than make undeserved $400 million dollar salaries.

LOL. You think "liberals" are the only ones in this country complaining about gas prices? If you believe that, I've got a few bridges (to nowhere) to see you! :laugh:Originally posted by: Ronstang
None of the tinfoil hat wearing liberals around here care anything about the truth if it does not support their agenda. I have tried in the past to explain where all the extra profit comes from when the per barrel price of oil is high but no one listens because it is not political. They don't want to understand. They are unhappy in their lives and cannot deal with the fact that there are things in this world outside their control....all the while lacking the ability to improve their own lives with the things they can control. Everything is always someone else's fault in their world and everything is always a conspiracy to keep them down.
There is a HUGE difference in complaining about gas prices and complaining WHY gas prices are high.....big difference. I don't like the high prices but at least I understand why they are high and am not foolishly placing blame in the wrong place because it fits some misguided political agenda.

2. How is this not a conspiracy to keep people down? Maybe there's no black helicopters, but a group of folks are acting together towards an end that helps themselves, and harms others (thus, 'keeping them down').

There really isn't any point to me trying to explain the oil industry to you as you would not believe me if it didn't fit your preconceived assessment of things. The oil companies make about 10 cents per gallon of gasoline. Considering that about 40 cents of what you pay at the pump is taxes that means ~$2.40 is the actual price. Lets be hugely generous and make a stupid assumption that the gas station makes 40 cents a gallon making the oil companies selling the gas at only $2....that 10 cents profit is only 5% and even if it scales with price is a rather LOW return on investment for someone providing something so crucioial to your daily life. Considering the stations do not likely make 40 cents a gallon the profit magin is actually less than 5%. Boy are they ever holding you down!!!Originally posted by: Cerb
