Miscommunication at work today

Got a call from a user, clearly of East Asian ethnicity but I'm not sure exactly where. Anyway he said he needed a patch installed on a server moved from a nearby location into a new lab being built here.

I sent the ticket off to the proper group, then went to go get a drink from the vending machine. Upon my return I saw that the ticket had been returned to my queue with the following comment (verbatim):

"we only handle servers in the data center. Rouge custom homemade server are not patched, backed up or anything else"

So I spoke to my supervisor about this, and she took a printout of the ticket to the user to determine his needs.

He needs patch cables! 😀
