Misaligned partition on SSD

I fear that I might have a misaligned partition problem on my SSD, since it seems to be lagging a bit when I multitask (e.g. file copy in background). How can I tell if the partition is not aligned and how do I fix this problem? I have a 64GB SuperTalent Masterdrive SX (Samsung PB22-J based, like the OCZ Summit). It has the older firmware on it, not the newer one that supports TRIM. I'm running Win 7 Professional X64.

Thanks

if there is a newer firmware that supports trim, why did you not install it?
if it is misaligned you need to delete all partitions (losing all the data) and create new partitions, properly aligned.
Do you have AHCI eneabled? what makes you think it is the misalignment (if any) that causes the slowdowns?
What OS did you use to originally partition it?

Samsung has not released a firmware updater yet, so the only drives with the newer firmware are ones that shipped from the factory with the new FW already installed. I've read on the Super Talent forums that Samsung is supposed to be releasing an update sometime soon...

I do have ACHI installed. The first OS I installed on this SSD was Win 7 RC, but then I formatted and installed Win 7 Professional when it came out through my school. I have not created more than one partition on this drive.

So, if I understand correctly, all I need to do is format my drive through the Windows 7 DVD and then re-install Windows? Is there anything I need to do to make sure my drive is aligned when I'm installing Windows, if I reinstall?

no, not format, delete the partitions... then create new partitions.

And you do not need to do it since windows 7 RC partitions it correctly automatically. So it is already aligned.
If you think for some reason it was not, (for example, shipped prepartitioned with a misaligned partition from the factory), then you can go ahead and do the process suggested.
