Mirroring with nvraid without reinstalling Windows

Can I setup nvraid for Raid 1 (mirroring) on my boot drive without reinstalling Windows? Would I need to reinstall the nvIDE drivers for it to install the Raid tools?

Thanks,

This should work...Never tried it myself, though...
I would have a look in the raid controller BIOS options.
As RAID1 has to have an option to rebuild drives out of others after failure and replacement, there should be a clone option somewhere...

In case anyone is curious, here's how I was able to get this working:

  1. In the BIOS, enable RAID. Do not enable any disks for RAID however.
  2. Boot into Windows and reinstall nvidia IDE drivers
  3. In the BIOS, enable RAID on the disks you want
  4. In the nvidia RAID BIOS, create a new RAID array with the disks. Mark the array as bootable. Do not clear disk data. Choose to rebuild the array and select the disk that you want to overwrite with the mirrored data.
  5. Boot into Windows. nvraid will automatically start copying the data from the original drive to the mirror. A bunch of new devices will be detected and you'll probably have to reboot.

    Hope that helps.
