can't connect and dunno why. can anybody help? it tries to use 6667 and saids unable to resolve server.

Wrong forum.

Are you using a real server ip/hostname? Is there an IRCd running on that port?

or

/server irc.magic.ca

in the main mIRC box.

No wonder you posted it in the wrong forum. You probably shouldn't use IRC. It might be a bit beyond you...

server lists for those irc networks often have dead servers

irchelp.org has a supposedly fairly up to date server list for efnet.
