mIRC Channels...How Much Sys Resources???

I idle constantly in irc using mIRC. I am just wondering if anyone has tested whether or not more channels = more system resources. All the channels are on the same server and the same mIRC window. Would the difference in 5 channels and 20 channels for example be that great?

I'm idling now in 8 channs and Ë×Çü®§îöñ is using 0 cpu cycles. So I wouldn't worry about mIRC eating up your system resources.

The system resources depend on how many IRC windows that you have open...not necessarily how many channels you idle in. So to answer your question...no. 🙂

If you are on a modem connection and there is a lot going on it will take up several hundred bits per second of your bandwidth. Otherwitse the resources used by IRC are very small. The only client that i have used, and found to be a bit resource hungry was Virc, which takes up almost as much ram as Bloated ICQ. The best though, Is definatly BitchX, takes very little ram, very powerful, very stable, and no Silly GUI ... just pure hardcore IRC

hehe..true dat 🙂

plus when youre stuck without X, you're not all confused as to how you're supposed to use irc. bitchx is great. powerful yet easy to use (once you figure out a couple things)

Don't think it would take up must system resources.

However if your in alot of channels and they all get flooded, your bandwidth would be the first to get raped 🙂
