mIRC and Proxies

I was curious if there is a way to make mIRC connect through my isp's proxy instead of going directly to the irc server. Also, is there a way to prevent oneself from being booted?

What kind of proxy is it? If it is SOCKS4 or 5 then yes. I dont know if recent versions of mIRC have more support or not. It is after all, possibly the most hated IRC client in existance 😉

There is no way to stop from being kicked. Well, none that would not involve rewriting/cracking ircds... So be nice and you dont have to worry about it. (and remember, no ban can keep you out totally if you know how to get around them) 😛

for windows I liked IamC. But irssi, bitchx, and epic are 3 of the top irc clients out there.

The easiest way to get around a ban is to sign up for like 4 shell accounts. Then use the vhosts of those shells in your bnc (or even easier bitchx) and you can evade almost any ban. Plus the ban list only goes up to ~20 which means if they do not ban you by ident you can easily fill up a ban list with 2 shell accounts with a decent amount of vhosts 😉
