Miracle Cooling

After a fresh windows install, the temps on my non overclocked T-bird droped drastically from a lofty 50c idle temp. Over a course of a few days the temp droped to just below 30c. Right now it is at 27c, 1 deg cooler than the 'system' temp. I have done nothing to the hardware and I am still running the anemic OEM fan (the alpha 6035 is in the mail, allong with my overclocking hopes). The cpu heatsink actually feels pretty cold, before it was quite hot. What gives?

Is it possible that you had some background processes running that you just didn't know about?

Must have been. If I fire up something cpu intensive the temp shoots up to 50c in short order. If I just let it sit there it will cool all the way back down to 27-30 depending on room temp.

Now windows has me wondering what they had snuk in there before.
