Anyone have these knives? I saw them on TV and while I usually pass on TV advertised items these looked to slice really well and be pretty durable. Any thoughts on them?

Do these slice through cars and then perform miracle surgery? Ok, how much are they. I can tell a lot from that.

hahahaha, sorta and I didn't get to see the end of the infomercial to get the price. I believe some sites have them for about $50 shipped (at least four different types of knives).

Well I havent seen them, but if it says "miracle" think trash. I was going to make a longer reply, but briefly, these things usually are made from very hard stainless that makes them virtually impossible to sharpen. ALL knives get dull, except for the ceramic ones. They can loose their edge too if you mistreat them, then you have to send them back to the factory. Anyway, the best reasonably priced knives are from Forschner. They are used quite often commercially and are highly recommended by Cooks Illustrated (to whom I subscribe and trust). These are stamped metal blades, and therefore less expensive than forged blades, but the quality of materials and methods used make up for that. Many web sites sell them. Highly recommended

How sturdy are they?

My wife got some of the ginsu 2000 blades and everytime I try to cut with them the bend and feel like they are going to break off if I put too much pressure on them.

True. Take a look at the edge of the blade. You'll notice that the ridge runs along one side of the blade instead of being sharpened evenly on both sides. That's the only drawback that I've ever found, but the only thing I was doing was cutting watermelon -err... try to. For things like vegitables, fruit, and meat, they're fine -as long as you're not cutting something thick. For that, I suggest purchasing the knives that I sharpen

I have a set of the cheaper miracle blades..I cut through a brick once, and the knife still cuts vegetables like it was brand new.
