Minor vision insurance fraud.

My cousin has just informed me his friend is willing to pay him $50 to use his vision insurance and pretend to be him. My cousin gets free vision insurance from his employer but doesn't need it. His friend wants to get contacts, but has no insurance, thus cost will be very high. His friend is offering him 50 dollars to use his insurance and pretend to be him. I told him it wasn't worth the risk for $50 dollars. You think my cousin should go through with this.

SOP is to copy both the insurance ID card and the photo ID of the bearer.

Your prescription will have a name on it.

Good luck with that.

I have an eye exam every year, hell I just had one 2 months ago. I have never beed ask for my ID. I just state who I am on the forms and such. Yes I have insurance.

Is it really worth the risk?

Tell him to go get insurance

Actually, I would find a reputable place online for him to buy from!

you know it really doesn't cost that much more than 50 bucks to do it legit. I didn't have health insurance I went to pearl vision to get tested for contacts and they charged me 85 bucks for the exam. And buying the disposable contacts is something you'd have to buy anyways or hard contacts (I don't think insurance pays for these)

Why not just tell his cheap ass to pay the extra 35 bucks and do it legit. Safer for the both of you

Not worth it. Go to Walmart and get an eye exam and contacts. It is going to be less than $100. You can get contacts there or online (not that much of a savings usually). Why risk it?

My cousin insurance is 10 dollars for Contact and Vision exam and 150 towards contact lenses so it is big savings. The total year end savings would be over 200 dollars, so it is more than what some of you think.

Oh no I am against this, I told him not to do it. I just wanted to correct people who thought the savings would be minor.
