Why can't text editors provide column-based copy/paste??

Many times I'd like to cut and paste a column of data but ya just can't do it with most text editors.

waaaaaahhhh...

Do those offer syntax highlighting for, say, JScript files?

yes it does.. here is a LINK

Ah...not freeware, though.

I've been mostly using ScriptPad lately.

It was worth the $29 to me.. or if you don't mind a nag screen the shareware doesn't expire (but you didn't hear that from me) ;)

Amen brother! First thing I do after installing Visual Studio on a new machine is set the editor to Brief emulation.

And one reson I've never gotten around to buying another text editor for non-C++ work is that <rant> none of them get the semantics for numpad + copy right! They let it work after you select text, but don't also have it copy the current line if no selection </rant>

Yeah...Brief was awesome...and quite configurable. We had an extensive set of Brief macros setup.

But, this Crimson Editor seems ok...will probably switch to it. That bunny face cracks me up when I <Alt>-<Tab> ;)

Textpad does color coding and block select and is shareware that is only minimally annoying about registering.
