I recently run into some small problem while connecting my gaming system to my pc.
I currently have a xbox 360 and a ps3 and both of them are connect to a computer monitor for picture and use my pc for sound. My sound card is Creative X-fi with front plate connector. I originally connect my 360 with its official VGA cable to monitor and connect the red and white audio cable to my soundcard line in with audio cable and connect my ps3 with hdmi cable and use optical cable to connect to my card since it got an optical in and optical out.
It was working fine for a while but sometime when I am playing with ps3, whenever there is high frequency sound, it got major static like sound. I pick up God of War collection the other day and pop it in my ps3, there is sound in the logo, but there is zero sound when I get to game menu. I wonder if the game is a bad press since it is the only game I ever got no sound with so I tested it out on my brother's ps3 and sound was fine. I was puzzled so I tried swapping the 360 and ps3 sound connection, so now ps3 is on line-in and 360 is optical in. Surprising enough, God of War collection now have sound. Xbox 360 work fine too, but I only tested modern warfare 2 but for some reason now the Inside xbox web video have no sound. So my guess there is some problem with the optical connection but games mostly work fine. What could be the issue here?
