This goes back to the argument of neutering Lame Ducks at the very least. But I would prefer drastically shortening the transition period. I see no reason for an election confirmation process to take two months. This year it won't be over until at least January 6th.

It used to be until March; then it was changed after Herbert Hoover tried to Trump things up when FDR was elected in 1932. It should be shortened again.
