For the record, I'm far from stupid (with the SAT's, ACT's, and GPA to prove such),...
Testing well has nothing to do with not being stupid. Thinking that someone is a slacker because he cannot compete with you is being stupid.
You would let an employer define someone's worth? You must not have any real-life work experience.
Who defines value? I think every school teacher should by paid more than any lawyer, but teachers cannot get better pay or working conditions even with their unions.
Why are firemen and policemen paid less than accountants or systems analysts? Who is really adding more value to society?
Being in my 50's I get a laugh when a 20-something thinks they are worth more than an old-timer because they know more about the latest and greatest software, hardware, etc. That knowledge has a half-life of 18-24 months and then they are as "useless" as us old-timers.
That is some chip you have on your shoulders about slackers. I don't like slackers either, but they are not in my or your league and they won't be competing with us, even at McDonalds.
BTW, I wasn't kidding about Social Security recipients eating dog food.
The best thing that helped the elderly was having the penalty removed from their soc sec checks if they worked. That is why you now see some elderly working at places like McDonalds.
The McDonalds in Europe pay good wages and medical. The European McDonalds workers, as well as taxi drivers, etc., consider their jobs to be career jobs and are proud of their jobs. Think of what pride in their jobs does for productivity.
