Minimum Specs for Battlefield 2

I just got BF2 today on DVD. It is a thick DVD case for IDK what reason. Can't they just release slim DVD cases. Anyway.. It comes with a single DVD, a slim 24-page black and white book, except for cover, and a bunch of advertisements for the following:

Alienware
Audigy 2 ZS, another advertisement in book for it
Nvidia
Zboard, a gaming keyboard.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Windows XP 32-bit with Admin rights
1.7GHz processor
512MB RAM
8x DVD Drive
2.3GB free space
DirectX 9.0c compatible Video and Sound
128MB Video memory
Radeon 8500 or Geforce FX 5700
Broadband internet connection

i remember when games actually came in a box

btw, just opened mine up and damn i know why they did not use a slim box, talk about a lot of advertisement papers inside there, there is just as much in there as in the EQ2 box.

They still do, except you have to pay extra and they're called collector's editions. Personally I have Guild Wars Collector's Edition, World of WarCraft Collector's Edition and Half Life 2 Collector's Edition.

What are the recommended requirements?

I've not tried the demo yet, but like most games, I don't bother following the minimum requirements, and usually double the RAM and video card and use a factor of about 1.5 for the CPU. I figure BF2 would chug on a system meeting the above minimum requirements.

Wait, this thing doesnt come in a box? Not even those miniature boxes?

I have a friend who runs the demo fine on a 1.4GHz AthlonXP w/ 512MB RAM and an FX5200(!!) (800x600, on the lowest settings, of course).

I think they use the thick case because it's the same case as the CD version and they need the extra space for the multiple CDs.

I am glad that they don't come in a box. Still couldn't understand why computer games used to come in a huge box with 80% unused space. Waste of storage space and trees.

Damn the trees - gimme my box!!!

Just kidding . If I had it my way, all of my games would be in a slim DVD case sitting neatly on a shelf. Since publishers think manuals are about as worthy of their time as QA, space inside the case shouldn't be an issue.
