Minimum Requirements. What happens if my rig doesn't meet them?

Prob should go in PC Gaming section but I'll ask here anyways. My laptop doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Helldivers 2 according to Can I Run It. What happens if I install it just to see how bad or well it'll run? Will it do nothing at all? Be super choppy and completely unplayable? Meltdown my laptop? Set my house fire?

Which requirement(s) does it not meet?
I'm guessing the GPU is too weak?

I dont know anything about that particular game but some general types of things might be useful..

If there is not enough VRAM it might not start at all, or it might run with like 0-1FPS once it maxes out and starts going to regular RAM
If there is not enough RAM it might not start at all, or it might run with like 0-1FPS once it maxes out and starts caching to your storage.
If your storage is too slow, it might not load parts of the game world fast enough to display them so parts of the world could be missing or invisible

That said, I think that game just came out, seems like a common trend with new games is that they run like crap for the first year or so until they eventually get optimized.

It might be a different story in a year or so

In general when I ran stuff that my PC didn't meet the minimum requirements for, it would just run a bit like shit, playability would vary per game.

I've had a few games that gave me warnings about not meeting requirements, but even then, lowest-quality lowest-resolution is usually playable but ugly even on pretty potato hardware.

IIRC it said I should upgrade my processor and gpu. I can't remember my processor, I believe it's a core i5 but my gpu is a gtx 1060 with max q. Pretty sure my RAM was ok with 8gb.

Sounds like it will run IMO. Likely will not get great framerates, likely to be CPU limited

Pretty powerful for a laptop GPU

im guessing CPU is probably 8th gen, so its probably a quad core..

Honestly, I think the game will be playable and youll probably be able to get an okish framerate. It might not be very smooth, especially at high resolutions. Even if you are not exactly/precisely at their minimum reqs, you are very very close.

Or not launch/run at all.... in other words no harm in trying, worst that will happen is you uninstall it. (and waste money/time)

Keep in mind that for most newer games you'll have to run it on low detail settings across the board to have any chance.

You might check the required DirectX version for the game vs what is supported by your card.

It's kinda funny, I also forgot despite having returned a game for basically this same reason like 5-6 years ago :D The return was pretty painless.
