Minimum requirements for a dvd writer?

I am reinstalling windows 98se on a computer for a friend. She wants to know if she can put a dvd writer in this machine. It is a Dell with a 667mhz pIII and 128mb of ram running Windows 98se. Will a dvd writer work on this machine? Thanks!!!
 
My older 4X DVD Writer said 900 MHZ CPU and works fine with a Celeron 900 Mhz CPU but newer DVD Writers say something like 1.2 Ghz CPU, so my guess is no.
