Minimum hardware needed for text on screen

Want to check post with min hardware plugged up and install little by little but I also want to flash the bios on the first boot.

Does the MoBo bios have any way of getting a video image of text to the screen or does this require my video card? MB is MSI Neo2 Plat...

If the motherboard has built in video, yeah, otherwise, you need a video card. You'll also need memory and the CPU, of course. If you want to flash your BIOS, you'll need a floppy drive as well. I don't know if you'd need a hard disk or not.

Good plan to do it first. On the other hand, the board is new enough that the bios should be alright until you get the os on.
Also, If it doesn't have onboard vid put an old plain vanilla vga pci vid card in. Then start adding cards.
Bios flashing can be done without viewing at all but can be dangerous if inexperienced.
