minimum cpu requirement for divx/xvid/wmv9?

what the title says, assuming you use whatever best combination you can find (ffdshow and bsplayer/wmp classic/swan i am guessing). i was under impression you need something along the line of duron/p3 600 and higher... correct me if i am wrong. i am not talking about those super high quality HD-WMV files here, i dont see those becoming popular anytime soon anyway.

i came to realize there are tons of laptops on ebay i wouldnt mind buying, except most of them sport cpus in 400~600mhz range...
