Couldnt think of a good topic title.. BUT anyway.. Im getting a new eVGA 7800 GTX KO and it says the minimum power requirements are 450W.. I have an xClio 450W PSU.. will this still be okay? Is running a video card with the minimum PSU bad or at all a risk?

Also, should I buy a different heatsink for my AMD venice 3000+ other than what came in the retail box? I might do a little overclocking.

And finally.. Whats the best thermal paste I could buy?

Thanks in advance..

450W would be for a crappy generic PSU, but I bet even a 400W or a 420W good quality PSU from Seasonic or Fortron will work just fine. As for your xClio, I have never heard of them, so I dont know the quality but you want to check the +12v rail it should be at least 18A-20A if not then a good quality 400W-420W will work fine.

It depends what OC you want, i can do 250 FSB with stock fan with my 3000+ winchester, if you want to go higher then maybe get a new cooler.

As for paste, I tried Artic Silver 5 and its messy as hell, try the Ceramic as I have heard its easier to use.

xclio came form channel well technology, the same parts that makes antec and some other well known brands. for "a little overclocking", the stock cooler will suffice, arctic silvermay take some time to spread out on the sink/cpu-die, but its worth the effort.

Dunno if AS5 is messy, but I was putting it on my cpu at night while the temp was around 60F, so it was quite diff to spread AS5 on surface well. LOL

your psu should last you. worst thing that can happen is it burns out...ok that's pretty bad. i'm pretty sure it'll work. it doesn't say 450w name brand.

You're aware that a 512mb GTX is coming out in a few days right? Might want to hold off a bit...
