minimizing wireless

I'd like to minimize the info coming in and out of my wireless connection. I use the hard line, others use the wireless. What settings do i set for this?

what "info" are you referring to? are you trying decrease the bandwidth available to wireless clients? ...force 802.11b

yeah force 1mb rate. It will actually probably increase your distance. I see that alot - 1mbps symbol rate goes nearly 2x farther than auto or 54mbps.

I guess its bandwidth. I wanted to say that but I wasn't totally sure. So, forcing 802.11b is what I want to do?

yeah then they will only be able to leech at 11mbps each. that should not dent your gigabit link to the internet

What Others means?

If they are people who legally share with you the connection you can not do this behind their back.

If it is leecher, then switch on your Wireless Security.

No hah 🙂 It's just other family members. I am just curious mainly because my games play better with the wireless off so basically i'm trying to find a medium without turning their wireless off while maximizing my connections. There is a noticeable difference between it on and off.

Thats kind of what I thought but I'm not sure on how to prioritize the specified ports. Although I do have port forwarding of those ports through my Cable Gateway Router as well as the specified machine in the DMZ zone at times.
