minimizing/maximizing windows temporarily freezes other apps

hi everyone,

i've taken all the necessary steps to ensure a trouble free windows environment. i've installed the amd driver, optimizer, xp patch, etc.

the problem is that when i have multiple tasks running in the background and i'm maximizing and minimizing windows, applications like windows media player, quicktime, or anything that produces video will temporarily freeze. i even went in the BIOS and reset everything back to non-overclocked settings. the results are the same. i even uninstalled drivers and reinstalled windows. somehow minimizing/maximizing takes precedence over other tasks. is there a setting that i need to tweak?

please assist. thanks in advance. 🙂

lower your overclock on the CPU

thanks for your response. as stated above, i returned everything back to default settings and the problem still persists. i also checked for any irq conflicts but my sound card, video card, and nic all have their own irq's.

Try unselecting the Nvidia option to make Windows minimize and maximize faster.

thanks for the tip. as soon as i get home i will try this. i was also thinking it could be related to video drivers. i recall a while back when this was not an issue. i did revert back to older drivers but this didn't seem to fix the problem. i'll go ahead and perform the tweak as you suggested.
