I have not used a wallet since college (25 years ago). I stopped using one when it would cause my back to go out. I just keep my license and a couple cards and a little cash in my front pocket.

A guy at work did this and he looked homeless. He'd pull out a ball of crumpled bills and some cards with a rubber band around them, looked ridiculous. At least get some cheap clip or something.

My bills are folded up and secure beneath the confines of the rubber band. They are never crumpled.

On occasion, there may a crumpled $100 bill in my pocket but it's only if I've blown my nose recently.

What's the advantage of carrying multiple credit cards?

If I'm just going to the store, my 'wad' of cash is $20. At most I have $200, but only when going grocery shopping. If I lived in Cabrini Green in Chicago, or South Central LA, I might change my practices, but...

The only insurance card you need when going out is car insurance, and that stays in my car. I have my Nationwide agents phone number memorized in case the card gets lost.

I use multiple cards because each card gets a better reward somewhere. One card gets me 5% off gas anywhere/anytime. My daily use card gets me 1% everywhere. My debt card for obvious ATM hit ups. My 4th card I can normally do without but its normally a amex for Costco or MasterCard for sams. I save money carrying multiple cards...simple as that. Its not for everyone.

If u like to carry $200, that's fine, Cabrini green isn't that bad anymore. I visit every other week. But carrying $200 isn't my thing. My parents do that.

i'm maxing it out with 11 cards and a little folded cash.

Some packs of gum carry cards nicely.

I never quite understood the ID window on wallets. Any place serious about checking IDs will ask you to remove the ID from your wallet so that they can examine the card itself for being a fake. And if they don't, but they want to examine it closely, it's foolish to hand your wallet with all of your cards to anyone; you'd want to remove it anyway. And, of course, if you no longer get ID'd, such a window isn't needed in any case.

I've been using the Dopp Regatta 88 since it was recommended in a wallet thread on ATOT in 2009. Still going strong. Minimalistic, front pocket, low profile. I absolutely love it. 17 bucks Amazon Prime, too. I actually bought 2 others just to have for whenever my first gets really worn. I suspect these 3 will last me 30 years at least.

This may be hard to believe, but there's a fellow, Steve Montelli, with a YouTube channel devoted to minimalist wallet reviews. He does a very nice job, especially covering the smaller shops and crowdfunded projects.

Maybe you're thinking of something like the Waskerd Pinnell Money Clip Wallet.

My personal preference is for pretty close to as minimal as you can go. I carry a card sleeve with three cards and carry my cash folded in half in the same pocket, no clip or anything. The sleeve protects the cards and the cash is easy to access. I can reach into my pocket and easily pull out just the card sleeve, just the cash, or both. Never really understood the need for a money clip. I do like the Pinnell design, though, and might try it some day.

i've seen some of that guys reviews when i was researching Big Skinny wallets. He is a riot.

OP Check out Big Skinny, they make some good ones.

For me the issue is I am a real estate agent and also a pro photographer so I need to have business cards on me for both of those gigs at any time. like 5 of each. So its tough.

I use the window all the time. Very few places have I needed to remove the card and that's only when they are scanning it.

I normally carry a driver's license, health insurance card and a debit card. I keep auto registration and auto insurance cards in the car. Occasionally, I'll carry another credit card. If I really needed to, I'd carry five or six cards, which wouldn't make a lot of difference.

If one is carrying such a wallet, you'd more than likely have your insurance card, ID, a single CC card, a few business cards and you money.

Things like membership cards probably not (like Costco, not like a loyalty card that you can just use a phone number).

Your car insurance would sit in your glove box.

Sadly most that have problems with bi/tri-folds have them because they want to carry every single card they ever received. Some carry cart around their SS cards and things like that.

Many need a regular wallet day to day and use the clip/minimal for special occasions.

My insurance card fits in one of the slots on my wallet, so I carry that. But, I also only rock an ID, two CC and a debit card.

All credit cards and bank accounts will be on one chip in the future. This chip will be in your arm. No need for a wallet.
