Minimag LED 3AA .. damn this is bright for a Minimag

So, Maglite came up with the LED version of Minimag. I found the 3AA version for $20 at Home Depot.

It's a little long, but man this thing is bright.

yeah yeah, i know there are those Surefires and other etc. expensive crazy lights that are brighter that burns through expensive lithium batteries, but i'm not talking about them...

Check out the Brinkman Maxfire LX. It's roughly equivalent to a SureFire G2 with a P60 lamp, and it costs about the same as that SureFire lamp assembly by itself. ($17)

(It's an incandescent and uses CR-123A batteries... so it's a slightly different class of flashlight)

An apple and an orange comparison. Why did you even bring this in? It's a completely different class of light.

Minimag 3AA lasts like 3 to 4 hours on three standard AA alkaline batteries. That thing you talked about lasts like 30 minutes on a pair of $5/ea lithium batteries.

Because your thread title said "damn this is bright" not "damn this is bright for an LED light with a 4 hour battery life". It's a similarly priced light that is much brighter.

And CR-123As cost $1 apiece, and the light I mentioned will last 1-2 hours on a set, and the batteries won't be dead when you need it in an emergency.

Quick research shows the light will last mere 45 minutes before losing 1/2 the output and 75minutes before its practically dead.

Would you show me where you can get them for $1/ea freight included for a quantity less than ten?

But if you want bright, LED and cheap batteries, I could recommend some <$10 21-LED lights that I got off eBay. It's about 3" long. I bought about a half dozen of them because I liked them so much.

Those have some 21 regular LEDs. Utterly useless except as a flood light. don't forget to include $14.95 S&H.

Mag LED has one 3W Luxeon that can be focused.
