Like to build a small energy-efficient HTPC, strictly analog stereo setup, want to install linux (likely crunchbang) but want to watch netflix since we are subscriber.

To get a reasonable smooth netflix in linux takes moderate hardware, will occasionally surf, hulu, dramafever etc.

can someone offer advice?

thanks,

The Netflix solution uses wine and the windows version of Firefox if I remember correctly.

Yep, according to TG Daily that is correct.

Essentially, Hoover's method runs the Windows versions of Firefox and the Windows versions of Silverlight in a Linux environment - rather than trying to get native Linux versions of those apps to work with Netflix.

And now Hoover has made it even easier for Ubuntu aficionados to load Netflix in Ubuntu via a comprehensive app that installs and configures custom version of Wine, Microsoft Silverlight and Mozilla Firefox - which are all geared to launching Netflix in full-screen mode.

For those contemplating giving this a shot, here are some video instructions for Ubuntu and some other Linux distros (but not Crunchbang Linux):
