Why anyone would still use VGA is beyond me.

Stick to DVI, HDMI, or Displayport.

What's wrong with VGA?

It's analog and sucks. The display isn't as crisp and you can't get as high a resolution out of it.

Yes, but as I said, projectors mostly still use it, as do older monitors, almost all CRTs, and older/cheaper LCDs. VGA has, IMO, more of a usefulness today than say... IDE or PS/2 which are also still being put onto motherboards.

I bought a Monoprice MDP-DVI adapter a few months ago. It works fine, but it does not support HDCP, which is annoying.

I'm a little confused by this... Does MDP-DVI not support HDCP on any screen, or does it only not work with monitors that don't support HDCP? This article seems to imply that HDCP works, but only on HDCP monitors (which I thought was the point of HDCP in the first place)...

I just received my adapter from monoprice today, but my MBP 13 is only supposed to get here on Thursday so I can't test this out. Although, according to the NV control panel my "graphics card and display are HDCP capable".

Newer projectors have HDMI inputs.

I can see how you're forced to use VGA cause you have an old monitor, but I bet you that there are a lot of people with new LCD's, who still use VGA for some reason.

Based on some of my reading with my Plasma and MB, it's because VGA gives you 1:1 pixel mapping, whereas HDMI may not. Therefore, VGA is still useful to some/many.

Works great for 720p resolutions.

This. My 1080p LCD will not do 1:1 pixel mapping through HDMI, but it works fine through VGA. And unlike some displays, where I notice some ghosting with VGA, my TV does not exhibit any visual artifacts. It might look better through HDMI, but only if I can get 1:1 working.
