MiniDisc

How many of you guys have MiniDiscs players, rec/players, etc.? I'm looking forward to buying one and I'm ditching the idea of getting the eXpanium, its bulky and pretty expensive for such a huge piece of equipment.

Any good MD sites, I've already got some, but wanted to know if there are any that I'm missing.

Sony or Sharp? Sony's MDs are very nice, they look nice. Sharp has great sound quality. Which one would you recommend?

Is the USB/Optical Link cable good? Before I hear about people wanting to get daughtercards for their soundcards because it yields higher sound quality.

I don't know if this will help but, in the professional sound business Sony mini disc players are THE industry standard. Not sure about the computer world. Hope this helps.

I have a minidisc player, and it just sits there to collect dust. Recording music onto minidisc is just too slow (1x speed). I just use it to once in a while to record voice messages, interviews, lectures, etc. Sound quality is much better than cassette recorders.

With a 12x burner, making cd's are quick and simple. If I need something portable and shockproof, I use my Diamond Rio 300. Only takes about 20-30 secs a song over the parallel port.

Maybe it's just because I have a bulky minidisc player...but anyway you put it, I'm just too lazy for real time recording.
