Hi

My boot SSD died on me last week, and my current PC has been quite finicky anyway, so I'm looking to get a new one. Looking for a mini-tower case, but confused about whether to get microATX, mini ITX or ITX.

I will probably be getting a system based on the following hardware
Kaby Lake i5/i7
16-32GB DDR4 memory
1x M.2 SSD
2x 3.5" HDD
Existing ODD
Existing Andyson MT9-1000W PSU

Case criteria:
Minimalist look
Good thermal performance with air-cooling
Good noise performance
Small form factor
2 or more USB 3.0 ports
2 or more 3.5" HDD bay

So far I've shortlisted the following:
Fractal Mini C
Corsair Obsidian 250D
Silverstone Temjin TJ08E

Any comments on these, or other recommendations? What's the deal with uATX vs mITX vs ITX?

I've owned the Temjin TJ08E for many years now -- great case, quiet (huge 180mm front fan w/filter) and was one of the smallest mATX cases out there, at the time at least. No real complaints other than the 3.5" bay at the bottom looks a little goofy. I kind of like that though.

If I were to buy again I'd definitely get the titanium/gunmetal version which I did not know existed, I may buy it even though I already own the black version. TJ08T-E.

Anand reviewed this case back in 2011 -- Not sure how much case technology has improved since then but its still works for me.

I believe uATX is the same as mATX and mITX is the same as ITX.

I went with U/M because ITX was just a little small for me and motherboard selections were limited. mATX still allows 4 memory slots, SLI and the cases usually have more room for expansion in general. ITX could work just as well, just need to plan parts more carefully as you won't have so much room to 'add on' later. So get 16GB sticks, larger M2 drives etc.

Thanks. Looks like I might go with microATX rather than miniITX due to cost and expandability. Any comments from others?
