I always loved the idea and look of the "slingshot" for quick and easy access to the camera. And, being greedy, I would like to have one that can fit a laptop like they did with the 250 Fastpack. So, the only, natural choice I have in the market is the Lowepro 350 Slingshot.

low(e) and behold, I am sorely disappointed on all counts I mentioned above

1) Looks: I tried on the 100, and 200 many times and once the 300, but never the 350 since it is new to the market. The 100 is too small, and 200 is almost right and 300 is perfect sans the laptop compartment. They look pretty cool being a slingshot; but the 350 is so large that it 'sags' and doesn't stay above your shoulder, but more towards your lower back. It looks like an aging koopa shell.

2) quick and easy access: Since the bag is so bulky and heavy, it isn't as easy as the 200 or 300 to "swing" the bags into the "camera pull" position.

3) laptop compartment: my Compaq C-700 series doesn't fit unless some force is applied and the laptop is pushed in at a certain angle. [my laptop is 14 inches wide]

Hmmm interesting. I have the 300AW and it works perfectly. The 70-200 f/4L IS is a tough fit when mounted on the camera with the hood, but it 'just' makes it. I wouldn't get anything larger though.

Maybe, but when I'm hiking in the woods or carrying a ton of gear in each hand from my car to wherever I'm setting up, etc. I don't care to look goofy. Or whenever you're looking for a shot, the shot takes precedence over how I look. For me anyway.

That's fair. :) My big photo bag is a Lowepro Nature Trekker AWII. I look like an idiot when I wear it, but it holds all my gear and has a detachable daypack...perfect for traveling. I usually use a Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home when I'm just carrying a couple lenses and flashes with my cam.

I have the AW300... I use it as storage mainly, and when I need to carry everything I have. It is indeed bulky as hell. I could see using it "on the go" like the AW200 or something similar. Then again, I'm also 5"5, heh.

Tho, now I'm realizing for events, it's not working, I need to just get a pelican case or something.. but so expensive.
